Pearls Orthodontics was founded in 2023 by Dr. Patricia Ortiz. Our goal is to provide exceptional orthodontic care to Pflugerville and the greater Austin area that is catered to each patient and their unique wants and needs. We are also a fully bilingual office, so patients who prefer to speak Spanish are welcome to do so with our team. At Pearls Orthodontics, we want our patients to feel completely at home in our office. We offer complimentary refreshments in our lobby that patients and their families are welcome to enjoy. We also provide tablets and TVs to keep our younger patients entertained while they wait for their appointments.

State-of-the-Art Technology
iTero® Intraoral Scanner — Gone are the days of biting into trays of goopy dental putty to get dental impressions. Digital dental impressions provide high-quality measurements for our team, and they are much more pleasant for patients. We simply run a handheld device over the patient’s teeth, allowing it to capture thousands of images that the iTero software then uses to create precise impressions.
Smile Preview Software — Want to see what you’ll look like once your treatment is complete? Our team can show you what your straight, symmetrical smile will look like before you even schedule your first orthodontic treatment. Our advanced smile preview software assists our team with planning treatments and allows patients to get a sneak preview of their future smiles!
Digital X-Rays — Digital X-rays emit up to 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays, making them safer for our patients and our team. Digital X-rays are also available for our team to review within seconds, making appointments more efficient, and they can be greatly enhanced, so we can identify important details quickly and easily.
Panoramic X-Rays — A panoramic X-ray displays the upper and lower jaws and teeth, sinuses, nasal cavities, and jaw joints in a two-dimensional format. Panoramic X-rays allow our team to see how a patient’s teeth align on their jawbone and help us identify missing teeth, extra teeth, impacted teeth (teeth blocked from eruption), and ectopic teeth (teeth growing in the wrong position), as well as cysts and abscesses. These X-rays are very quick, easy, and comfortable for patients.
Cephalometric X-Rays — Cephalometric X-rays give us a profile view of the face, underlying skeletal structure, and teeth. An analysis of this image provides us with the information critical for treatment planning, which includes the growth direction of the jaws, vertical facial structure, the relationship of the upper and lower jaws to each other, the angular position of the anterior teeth, the bite, profile analysis, airway assessment, and skeletal maturation.

Meet Your Pflugerville Orthodontist
Dr. Patricia Ortiz Diaz is passionate and dedicated to Orthodontics. You will notice how excited she gets about aligning teeth and her specialty as soon as you meet her! Dr. Ortiz is committed to providing the highest level of care tailored to the needs of each patient. She has great satisfaction in helping her patients achieve better oral health and beautiful smiles. Dr. Ortiz is current with all the latest techniques and theories in the practice of orthodontics and strongly believes in attending continuing education courses.
Dr. Ortiz earned her Bachelor of Science degree in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. She went on to attend the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan for her Doctorate of Dental Medicine, graduating magna cum laude in 2014. Dr. Ortiz then completed her General Practice Residency and Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics with BronxCare Health System in New York. She is also proud to be a board-certified orthodontist.
Dr. Ortiz moved to the Austin area in 2021, where she has been creating custom orthodontic treatment plans and helping patients smile bigger and brighter every day. She enjoys cycling, baking, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. Dr. Ortiz loves living near her practice and looks forward to working with you and your family!

Melanie knew she wanted to join the dental field because she loves being of service to people, is very hands-on, and is attentive to detail. She really enjoys seeing patients joyful when they start seeing results in their smiles, especially when they see their final results. Melanie’s hobbies outside of work are traveling, shopping, and baking.

I started in the dental field right out of high school. Stepped away for a while and found my way back. I love customer service and patient care. My family and 3 kitties (Shasta, Pepper and Misty) are a huge part of my life. I enjoy sports, golf and spending time with my family.
